Tour de France Week

14 - 21 July / Join us for a week-long celebration of Le Tour

We're really excited to see the Tour de France return to our backyard with a number of stages within striking distance of Basecamp in Talloires. To take full advantage of Basecamp and the beautiful village of Talloires we are offering a single centre trip taking in some of the spectacular riding on our doorstep, riding out to watch the stages between Annecy and Le Grand Bornand and Albertville to La Rosiere with the option to also watch the stage between Bourg St Maurice and Alpe d'Huez.

Talloires offers several hotel options to suit all budgets - see below for the various package options. Life for the week will be centred around Basecamp with group rides and excursions leaving from there each morning and returning post-ride to catch the stage finishes and relax with a few beers. We will offer two ability groups each day led by experienced ride guides and supported by a vehicle with mechanical spares, food and drink.

Bike Rental Available - Every year, we hear of problems with bikes damaged in transit or even left on the tarmac and not arriving in time - why take away all the worry by hiring one of our top end bikes. Read more...

Day 1 - Sat July 14 - 65km / 1,000m
What a day to arrive in France, Bastille Day! After transfer from Geneva Airport and check in at your hotel, come to Basecamp to collect your rental bike, or get some assistance in assembling your own bike. Depending on your time of arrival, go for a gentle warm up spin around Lake Annecy, maybe tagging on our local climb, col de la Forclaz. After riding, gather at Bascamp to watch the Tour stage, a traditional blockbuster on July 14th. Tonight there is also a welcome BBQ at Basecamp for all our TDF guests, and afterwards you can wander down to the bay in Talloires to join the locals as they celebrate Bastille Day with dancing and fireworks.

Day 2 - Sun July 15 - 109km / 2,900m
Gather at Basecamp for coffee and breakfast, before splitting into your ride groups for the day (this will have been pre-communicated to make things easier). Today we are going over our favourite climb in the area, the col de l’Arpettaz, then over the well-used Tour climb of Col des Aravis and making our way back to Basecamp up and over Col de la Croix Fry, down through the Manigod valley and back to Talloires.

Day 3 - Monday July 16 - 77km / 1,650m
Today is the rest day for the TDF in Annecy and the pros will be out and about around the lake. We can't say too much at this stage but we might be expecting a few pros to drop in at Basecamp, courtesy of our brand partners, so we don’t want to stray too far. The pros don’t completely relax on a rest day, they will still be riding the local roads, so we will hit a couple of likely local climbs where we may see them - Col de Leschaux and Le Semnoz…

Day 4 - Tuesday July 17th - Annecy to Le Grand Bornand

Today's stage passes right through Basecamp's home in Talloires before heading into the mountains. We can watch the stage start in Annecy, catch them again in Talloires and then head up to Colombiere to see them in action there, then find a bar and TV screen to watch the finish.

Day 5 - Wednesday July 18th - Albertville to La Rosiere - 107km, 2,400m

Today is a gem of a ride, over climbs completely off the beaten track and through gorgeous, quiet roads. We head initially to catch the Tour de France start in Albertville, a chance to see the riders making their final preparations and experience the whole buzz of the Tour, before climbing into the Bauges Massif.

Day 6 - Thursday July 19th - 115km / 2,200m
Today, we have two options - a ride over two of the climbs featured in Stage 10, to relive the Tour, or an optional minibus trip to catch the stage that finishes on Alpe d'Huez.

Day 7 - Friday July 20th - 90km / 2,400m
We finish our week’s riding with a classic Lake Annecy loop, via the high roads. We head out and up from Talloires to Super Bluffy, to Le Semnoz via Annecy and then the harder south side of Col de la Forclaz via Montmin, before a glorious descent back to Basecamp, and well-deserved refreshments. We opened with a BBQ at Basecamp, and we finish with one too. You will have made and deepened friendships and discovered many new climbs along the way, as well as enjoyed the madness of the Tour de France up close and personal.

Day 8 - Saturday July 21st - departure day
Transfer back to Geneva Airport. We’ll be sad to see you go, but it’s never goodbye at Bascamp, only au revoir!
